Just ordered the EBL P4

Just ordered the EBL P4
I finally made up my mind and ordered the EBL P4 for my engine swap project in my 86 Caprice Landau two door. I realize that this is not a Third Gen vehicle but it will be getting a heart transplant in the form of a 1991 L98 350 with Vortec heads, SPDC Vortec TPI intake base a mild Comp Cams cam, and Bosch 24 lb injectors. I bought the engine a number of years ago from a wrecked Z/28 with 40,000 miles. I added the mods with the intention of installing it in a 85 El-Camino but life got in the way and I never got it installed. A couple of years ago I fond this low mileage Caprice with only 9.500 miles on the clock so the wheels started turning and here we are. I have collected everything I need for the swap, Fuel tank set up for a internal pump, sender and hi pressure fuel pump, a set of EFI fuel lines, Y pipe cat and 3 inch dual exhaust with dynomax mufflers and full tail pipes, a plug in conversion wire harness and now the EBL P4. I also have the twin electric fans and the 700R4 from the Z/28. I am hoping that when I get into tuning I can look forward to getting some help from the experts on here. Any body interested in pictures of my project as I proceed? My goal is to make it look like a car that GM should have built back in the day.

Re: Just ordered the EBL P4
Thanks guys, Looking forward to getting into tuning it after I get the engine swapped in. I hope to start on it soon after my fall harvest is finished. Here is a couple of pictures of the Caprice and the 3 inch Torque Tech 85 El-Camino exhaust system I modified to fit the Caprice. Hope you enjoy my old guy cruiser.
This car is rust free, 32,000 miles. All factory options. Rides and drives like new.
I repainted it a couple of years ago due the factory paint cracking.
hi flow cat and 3 in exh pipes
Monte Carlo SS y pipe and hi flow cat
full 3 in tail pipes
3 in exhaust pipes and Dynomax mufflers

My goodness that is a sweet ride. I would offer up some pics of the EBL system in my GTA, as well as some tuning pics to help you get started, but photobucket has placed themselves on some pedestal and no longer "host" without a hefty monthly payment as fee, and all of my pictures are still on there. I could share a recent video though w/the EBL-P4 system controlling my modified 305 if you'd like. But either way that is one gorgeous Caprice. Two short vids, the open exhaust kept disturbing the audio on the i-phone during the first video, but you get the idea though...

Re: Just ordered the EBL P4
Hey guys thanks for the complements on the car. At my age I am more inclined to drive something that is a comfortable ride but I also want it to handle and perform well. I added extra hd shocks and springs along with the 15X8 American rims with 255/60R15 and 275/60R15 tires. I plan on narrowing the rear end about 1/2 inch a side to allow me to lower the rear end slightly. I do not want to give up the wide tires and rims. The Vortec TPI engine transplant should give it a quite boost in performance over the 305 currently in it. Our daily driver is a 2008 Cadillac DTS and I would much rather drive the Caprice as it is just a better driving car. I am really excited to start the transplant soon.

Re: Just ordered the EBL P4
My son and I started the L98 TPI swap into the Caprice yesterday. We are removing the front doghouse to allow better access to the wiring and to allow clean up and painting of the firewall, frame and inner fenders. We were talking and he said Headers would be a nice improvement and I said I do not have a set that will work. He said I do. He has a set of Edelbrock's along with the y pipe that have not been installed since they were jet hot coated so we are working out a deal for them. I will get some pictures today. Mods should I start a new thread in a different message board or is it ok here.
Later.

Re: Just ordered the EBL P4
Update on the L98 Vortec TPI swap into the Caprice. As I stated in my last post back in November when we started on removing the old 305 and 200R. Well one thing lead to another, and before you know it the front doghouse was off, the engine and trans was out and I then decided that it was a good time to clean and detail the frame and suspension. I then decided to detail the rear end and suspension so I removed it and cleaned and detailed it and then installed new brake lines and hoses, e-brake cables and painted and detailed it all. I got the drive train installed then it was time for spring farming. Back on it fgor a couple of weeks and time for wheat harvest. When that was done I got back on it and finished up the install and then put the car all back together. I started it for the first time a while back and started on troubleshooting and getting ready for the first drive. I have everything operational except the MPH on the WUD. Tomorrow I will trace the wiring from the 15 pin plug and the ECM to insure I have the pins in the correct positions and make sure that I have the flags set correctly. I installed my Innovate O2 wideband and have it communicating with the EBL and the gauge that came with it and the WUD both track together on reporting AFR so I am confident that when I get my mph readings showing up on the WUD I will be able to start doing some VE learns. Here are some pictures of the progress and of the engine installed. I think I reached my goal of trying to make it look like it was installed by the factory. Click on the pictures for a larger view. Thanks
Hope you enjoy.
