Going to try programming again
I bought all of the equipment from Moates a couple of years ago and gave up because I just couldn't figure it out. I wasn't aware that absolutely no instructions would be provided when I bought it all. Got frustrated and left it alone.
I have an '88 GTA with a 355 swap, AFR 190 heads, and a Holley Stealth Ram. Thus, no cold start and no EGR.
I tried using ARAP and $6E, as well as a few other options through the Ostrich, but can't get the bloomin' thing to start. All I want for now is to simply get the EGR and cold start valve bypassed so it'll start.
Can anyone help? Please?

Have you read the sticky threads at the top of the topic list? There are a few threads around here on getting started, just a matter of searching and reading. Google usually works better than the search feature here, just type in what you're looking for, and add thirdgen.org and it should find plenty to read.
If you've already done that, nevermind.

Re: Going to try programming again
I have, several times. It's like deciphering heiroglyphics to me.
One question I do have:
Would having a Hypertech chip in there matter? I read somewhere that the chip you burn and piggyback off the stock chip uses the stock chip for limp-home mode. I was wondering if I should try getting a stock chip from somewhere and starting over.

ARAP has VATS enabled. Not sure if your '88 has a VATs setup, if not that is why the engine won't start. Disable that via a flag in the calibration and see if it does start.
You are correct about the MEMCAL. It is used for limp mode and more importantly it sets the cylinder count in the ECM hardware for the proper injector firing rate.
