Hi all I'm a newbie and was just curious if there was any new developements that make anything in the article obsolete. I've been skimming the posts and it seems as if everything is advanceing but its hard to pin things down before I start. And if it makes a difference I have a 91 Z28 with the stock SD computor. The biggest news since Tim put together his Introduction article is the ability to use the AT29C256 Flash Proms instead of 27C256 eproms (that came in these cars).

The Flash Prom allows you to re-program electronically via the "burner" in seconds instead of using the UV Eraser which takes 15 minutes (when the eprom is new) and then must be slowly increased as the eprom is used.

Ya, I would consider the flash eprom to be a VERY significant advancment!! Used along with the modified header adapter, it is about as close to an emulator as you can get for the money.

 

What exactly is the "modified header adapter" that you mentioned. Don't think I've come across that yet. Thanks.

The modified header adapter is used to enable burining of the eprom directly through the calpak. No need for a zif socket, just solder in a 29C256 and away you go!
