Purpose of park neutral switch input 7730 8D ecm?

What is the purpose of the park neutral switch input pin d16 7730 8D ECM?
Is it for the idle bump when in gear?
Any other purpose?

I think other functions depend on the ECM knowing whether you're in P/N or in gear...

Stall saver
Torque converter clutch
Throttle follower (how the IAC counts change in response to throttle input)
How the ECM regulates the idle speed (i.e. how it chases overspeed or underspeed conditions)

Probably some other stuff too that I"m not remembering...

ECM will also exit DFCO if in neutral.
