Converting .bin file to .txt file for printing
Converting .bin file to .txt file for printing
I did this once before (8 yrs ago), but I cannot remember how I did it. I exported the .bin file to text, but all I got was zeros or -40*. I searched this forum and GEARHEAD-EFI, with no success. Possibly wrong wording.
Here's what I want to do. Review the differences between AXXD (5.0L 5 spd) and AXXF 5.0L auto) by printing the text files and compare them. What would be good is input the text files in a spreadsheet or word processor, but I think the files will not have the exact number or same lines.
Questions:
1. Is there a thread already posted which I missed?
2. Does TP have to communicate with the ECM?
3. Is the reason why I got zeros, because my laptop was NOT connected to the ECM?
4. Is it possible to join the files by importing the text files in a spreadsheet or word processor?
Hope I did not miss an existing thread and repeat the topic.

Load the $8d xdf, load the bin you want to print.
Click file tab export data to text file. Save then print the text file.

I did that as stated in my opening post, but I got zeros. Hence my question #2, does the laptop require connection to the ECM?
Thanks for your patience.

No connection needed but you need the xdf loaded. Just tested works fine for me.

At the top of the screen, it lists all three files, xdf, bin and ads every time I run TunerPro RT. I don't reload any of the files before connection via ALDL. No problem viewing the dash screen to monitor the engine.

Re: Converting .bin file to .txt file for printing
Thanks fellas. I opened a couple of different bins and was able to export them and print a couple of pages to verify. When I re-opened the concern bin, I got the zeros again. The item description is there but the data shows a zero or -40*. So I must have done something wrong when I exported to a text file. But all is good again and can carry on with my project.
