Getting "Corrupt BIN" msgs in TunerCat...

Does anyone know of a $6E BIN for an L98, 3.07 axle, manual transmission??? (Corvette)

I was hoping the ABTP was good; but TunerCat says the BIN I d/l'd from ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bins/ is either corrupt or a $32 BIN...But when I try APTP 32.BIN, with $32 code, that same msg comes up again...WTF???

This is version 1.73, with v5.4 form library...

I will assume you have the proper TDFs to read a $6E or $32.

Load the BIN into the Windows Pocket Programm and hit "edit Buffer". Look at location x'0008 and it will tell you which calibration it is, if it's a MAF or SD bin. It doesn't work for other variants of GM Bins, but if its $6E, it will say "6E" at location x'0008, or "32" if it's a $32 or "8D" if its a $8D.

BTW, wha'ts the size of the BIN?

Check location x'0008 of the bin and it will tell you the TDF it is.

It says 32...But the $32 TunerCat def file gives an "Source File Error. The program has encounter an invalid value. Either the incorrect ECM definition file is being used or the binary source file is corrupt."

It *will* open and display my AMJ and AARL BINs.

My plan here was to disable my '86 Vette cold-fire injector, load the $6E BIN most close to my setup (axle & trans wise), and see how close it was...

I've been told the $6E code is better than the $32...

I'm looking to see if that's true...

Grab another copy. I have heard from some people that if they use the wrong TunerCat TDF to open a file, that it will cause this corruption problem. I cannot confirm that.

But, since you want a $6E, then just look a little more and read it with Windows PP to ensure it is an $6E, and then open it to see what it is.

OK; I went to the bin libraries here at DIY, got a $6E file, and loaded it in TunerCat; all fine.

Tried to open the Constant Table...And I get *some* kind of table opening up about one foot to the left of my monitor...I can just see the edge of it...

Something is screwed up...I'll have to start all over; download TC again, load the new def files, download new BINs, etc...

Thanks for your time!

Just another $0.02- I've noticed that if I close tunercat with the "X" at the top right it will give me diff. error messages a while after that, and I'll have to reinstall it to clear the problem; if I close it off of the toolbar top left "files" and then exit, then it works fine.

I'll try that.

BTW: Will the $32 def files work on $32b BINs???

Maybe I have the wrong def file for what I'm trying to do...I didn't see any distinction at GMECM/BIN_LIB between $32 and $32B...Although the $6E had its own section...

TC from TunerCat just emailed me...The fix for my problem with both the $6E and $8D BINs/def files was to -

"Next go to the Tuner subdirectory using Windows
Explorer and delete the file names 'Catstuner.ini' and
then try running the program.

If you still get the strange display with the $6E
Definition Files, select 'Preferences' from the
'Options' menu and set the '# Columns in Drop-Down
List Column' to 99 and see if that takes care of the
problem."

I did still get the strange display problem, but increasing the # of columns did the trick!!! I can open/edit $32, $6E, and $8D BINs with v1.73 now...

...Even ones from ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bin_lib/1227165 32 32B 6E 94/ ...(Except for $32B BINs, which I don't know how to identify except by trial & error)...

So it would seem it's the default preferences which conflict with my settings and give the strange error msgs.

Thanks to all who responded!
