). (and yes it is suppose to look like that! its a long story)
The truck is a 1987ish S10 short box. The rear suspension and 6 speed is from a 91 corvette. The engine is a 3.0L Mercruiser! (which is based off the iron duke 2.5L ... but has a V8 bellhousing). It's turbo'd. Why a Mercruiser marine engine ... well they are made to run at 4400 RPM all day long. Crank and rods are massive compared to stock. Heads have huge ports. And hey ... it was available and different. My son has done all the work on the chassis mods, mating the ZF 6 speed to the 3.0L, sorting out the clutch, making a distributor, and so forth. Its on the edge of dedication and insanity as are all our projects from time to time.
We choose to run a 7730 and S_AUJP as I am familiar with that from Turbaro. (big shout out to @84Elky ... awesome work) The challenge here is that he is running a TBI setup, not port injection. (one day will be port). Its still bank to bank, but two low ohm injectors. TBI is from a 5.7L, and injectors are from a 4.9L caddy. Fuel pressure is 12. (sounds funny). The Distributor is an HEI style one with a ICM from a TPI setup. So it works with the timing advance/retard. All in all ... is a 4 cylinder TPI. I am using the CALPAC from a 2.0L setup that came with a 7730.
The tune thus far isn't too crazy. The engine has a larger than stock cam (street not marine!). So getting the base VE was a challenge. Still working through the transition areas. Boost works ... saw 2 PSI in initial testing. Lots more seat time and tuning. 6th gear is 0.5:1 on a 3.55 gear ratio! never had to tune that low of RPM for highway driving!
There is lots you can do with the 7730. You might have less hair when you are done ... but it is possible!

PS. A couple pics. If you have to ask "why" ... the answer is just why not.
The TBI setup is kinda sluggish in how it responds to O2 changes (rich lean swing). So closed loop is lazy looking. I needed to set the min BLM and INT to a higher number to keep things in check. I might still find some other items along the way to improve this.
