V6 F-bodies are weird, espeically the MAF versions. It appears GM used many different ECMs on them and their BIN (even if they use the same ECM as a V8) is not defined.
The later 3.1 V6s tended to use the SD 7730 ECM (like V8s) more often BUT there have been instances where they too have used something different.
My recommendation is FIRST, check the ECM (its behind the dash on the passenger side of the car). If it is a 165 (MAF) or 730 (SD) then you can just use a V8 BIN for the similar ECM and set the "Cylinder Select" to the proper one for a V6.
Then, the tuning is just like a V8 car.

The 89 2.8L Camaro's used the 1227730 PCM with $6D code.
I too would suggest moving to code used for later model year 60 degree V6 (i.e. 3.1L SD's also used the 7730) The SD code should be much more compatible with performance modifications, since the 2.8 MAF's max flow can be a big limitation.
