pre - burning questions

I have a few questions ,
im trying to get into prom burning and need to - my TPIS stage 6 is far from optimal i know.
ok here it goes - i currently have an auto x-ray scanner and know it is not the best for prom tuning ,but will it do for now? or do i absolutely have to get a laptop?
my current set up is MAF and its not maxing out but it is hitting high 240's gps - i know the SD system is the favored ,but
will i see benifits from going to SD? is it any easier or harder to tune? and last for now ,i hear alot about WB O2'S do i need a laptop to use one ,or will it work w/my scanner -
and do i even need one or just use a g-tech?

I also would like to know if someone could explain the intergrator
function to me ,i know about my BLM counts but am unsure of what the intergrator does.

all replys appreciated.

I have both an Auto X-Ray and Datamaster. The X-ray works okay, but has two limitations:1) it only will collect about 30sec of data during a run, and 2), the data must be hand copied from the device to paper or a spreadsheet in order to easily analyze it.
But, it is possible to do good work without the laptop, just more difficult.
I keep the X-Ray in the car for quick checks at opportune times, but use the laptop and Datamaster for more intensive analysis.

Okay here is my 2 cents. First, go slow with everything you are asking about. First learn how to burn the chips. Then start making changes slowly. I would reccommend a laptop. Much more capability with getting data that you will need to look at over and over. The autoxrays are nice if you just troubleshoot engine problems. If you burn chips you need more test data. Don't waste your money on a Gtech. Not that accurrate. Go to a local track and get some real numbers.

Hold off on switching to SD. People will tell you they are easier to tune, yea so what. MAF's are not that hard either. Just work with it. I only it 208gm/sec at WOT conditions, so I got room to work with. If your retro'n an old car with TPI FI, then go right with SD. If you have MAF now stick with it.

Read up on posts here as much as you can.

The Intergrator is just a finer adjustment to fuel trim, just like the BLM. Concetrate on the BLM's.

Hope this helps.

For tuning you want repeatable results for timing.
A GTech is fine for most cars. Who cares if the numbers are the same as 1/4 or not?, you tuning for performance.

If it's easier to work with, you want to spend the time and actually get somewhere. You can waste alot of time with a MAF system with little to show for it, if you actually have a reversion problem to figure out. Never mind the resitriction of the sensor it's self. Or the cost of a MAF sensor when it fails.

well thank you all very much, and every thing i read helps-
every opinion and fact help me learn more about this
intimidating but unavoidable task.
i guess im going to try and jump into this w/just the x-ray for now
and when it becomes to limited then i will try and find a bargain laptop.
as for the mass air i do want to get rid of the system on the soul
purpose of restriction, but will try and work w/it for time being
as like most others limitations right now $$.
i really appreciate all replies and give huge thanks to all that do
especially because this is something i really want to do and could not do so w/out your help.
