I noticed that winaldl has an ecu that is stated as clcc for 84-86 carb. Is this the computer controled carbs. found on the earlyer cars? When i went to hook my cable up to the aldl port there wasn't a pin in the data port, port E i think. Any one have any info on this?

You might have to change the port settings too.
Select the raw data tab then open the configuration dialog.
Try changing the baudrate and watch the raw data tab if it starts reading data.

You might need a 10k resistor between the A and B terminals on the ALDL connector too.

As far as I know it should work but I am running out of ideas ... Did anybody else test this?

Put a 10k resistor between the A and B terminals.
Connact the interface cable to terminals A and D.

winaldl on carb computer

Tried winaldl on my 1985 Computer controlled pontiac firebird as well.
Couldn't get any data out.
I'm unable to verify the cable because there aren't a lot of american cars around here in netherlands. But as soon as I find one I'll check the cable. but for now, no serial data yet, tried the 10k resistor between terminals A & B en the check engine lights starts flashing rapidly (guess this is the 160 BAUD data stream I'm seeeing)...

I'm using Win ALDL ver. 1.07a and win95 version B (english) on a Digital Hinote 266 MHz. Com port seems to work fine, tried diffrent windows settings as wel as winaldl settings for com 1. tried with 10k and without 10k.

The firebird is an 1985 base model CC 5.0L engine code H with a standard Qjet. Errorcodes read with diagnostics are 32 & 34.. Want to know whats really wrong as replacing parts in europe can be a costly thing. (have to be flown in from america)

hope somebody can help me.

On the '85 TPI cars pin "E" is serial data. Will look around and see if there is a diagram for the carb cars.

One other thought. Hook your laptop to AC power when trying to read the ECM data. I was only getting partial data till I did that.
