How do I remove the chip from the holder??
I am not sure if I am using the correct terminology but I have my hypertech chip and I want to remove the chip and compare it to my stock program. What is the recommended procedure?? De-solder? Pull??

I can get some pics for you. It is a 4 point and it bolted in. It fits with the contours of the car unlike others I have seen. I would recommend it to anyone. I also had the bar behind the seats that runs hor. bolt in to retain functionality. I plan to add the six point bars later. I will also weld it. Email me and I will see what I can do about getting pics.

Why not just use my software to read the BIN through the ALDL port? Or make a little adapter thingy out of a straight IDC header and stick it in the PP that way. No need to desolder. Isn't it just in a socket? Can you pop it loose that way? Maybe not, I don't know.

Or.. You get a small tip for your solder iron and a small flat blade screwdriver.. Unsolder 1 at a time and use the screwdriver to pull the pins out.. BE CAREFUL! You DO NOT want to pull the contacts out of the MEMCAL!

Check the options menu, there should be one for dumpig the EPROM memory contents to a BIN file. Don't know if it'll work with a Hypertech chip, but I'd be interested to find out...

Why do you believe it will not work? Could Hypertech put some sort of protection on the chip?? Thanks

Try it out, lemme know if it works OK. I know on some chips they won't even let you communicate at all, maybe they're afraid you'll discover their super-secret tuning techniques, I don't know.

and download either of the ZIP files. I still haven't tried the Beta version (ECM850B.ZIP), but the non-Beta version (ecmv845.zip) was working great for me.
