Attn Grumpy - wiring concern
Grumpy,
I have succeeded in getting the Malibu running with the '749.
I have a concern as to the wiring of the injectors. The pass side header is showing more heat ( a whitish ash from the paint ) than the drivers side ( just black dust ). A quick check of the plugs show that the pass side has less soot than the drivers side. The O2 is located in the drivers collector, and the drivers side looks fine, of course. I know this has been discussed at great lengths on the list but I still have doubts as to the correct location of the injector wires.
At present the wiring is per the SyTy diagrams. Pins C11, C12 and Grounds C13 and D7. As I'm sure you know the 730 uses Grounds D6 and D7. Which should I use? I need to make sure both banks are firing and that the pass side is not sucking fuel back thru the intake. Thanks for the help, I just want to make sure the wiring is correct before making any further changes to the bin. cheers Bob

According to my wiring stuff you have it right.
If your just comparing soot from running it in neutral, the results are meaningless. you have to load the engine to get it working enough to start running with enough heat to matter.

Thanks Grumpy, it maybe just each header was painted with different paint. I'll keep an eye on things just to be sure. Yes its just running in neutral/park atm. Hoping to get the T-10 rebuilt soon to complete the swap. Presently the 700r is still attached. I know that there will be differnces in the IAC and such once the swap is complete. I just wanted to make sure the wiring was correct before I bolted the dash/interior back in. Preliminary numbers from my first logging run in the garage are listed in another post. Shes a bit rich on the BLM's but thats ok. Just want it to start and run for now. Won't get into messing further with the PROM until the 4 speed is in. cheers, Bob
