Pocket Programmer or Auto X-Ray

I'm brand new to chip burning and am starting to collect what I need to get going. Which is better the Pocket Programmer or the Auto X-Ray scanner? What about programs? Are there any good freeware programs? I keep hearing about Craig's adapter, what is that?

Thanks a lot,

-Timbo-

You need the pocket programer to program the chips and you need a scan tool to read the data from your computer chip on the ecm. I would get the pocket programer and then get a cheap laptop off of ebay and the cable.

Craig is right. The Pocket Programmer is the actual "burner" and the Auto X-ray is the "scan tool".

I like the PP, but the Auto X-ray is limited. Also, there are free scan tools (do a search on "Craig Moates") and you will find Craig has a scan tool for "donation only" and the only thing you have to do is either make a cable or you can buy one for AKM.

Do some reading of recent posts, this has been discussed quite a bit recently. It's easier for you to read/search than for me to type (something that's gets discussed at least twice every week).
