the mechanism of my tach is screwed up.. someone decided to clean the face of the tach and somehow broke the mechanism. is sits at about -200 RPMS with engine off, and a 0 RPMS with engine running, and its not that the tach is missadjusted.. because i can rev the engine to well past 3500+ RPMS and the tach needle will move to about 500 RPMS.. and if i manualy move the needle, it wont go past 4500 RPMS... instead of 8000 RPMS.. im pretty sure the tach motor is screwed up.
what is the process in fixing\installing a new one? can i just get the tach motor itself? or do i have to get a whole new guage cluster?

My tach has been broken since i bought the car several yars ago. Looked into getting it redone but to expensive, tried to find one at a junkyard but couldnt b/c its from 84( until just recently). Any tach from the same year should be able to slide right into place or you can get one from summit or jegs but not sure how to hook it up.
