Please HELP.....electircity went out when driving....

i was driving down the country road and it was raining out and all the sudden all my gagues go out and i couldnt really hear if the engine died or not so i just put it in neutral and killed it and then tried starting it again, but it wouldnt start........here is what works right now....my parking lights, interior lights, illumination dash lights, and the locks just click. here is what doesnt work.....none of my gauges move when i turn the key to the ON position, headlights, stereo, hazard lights, the starter doesnt even click and the lights dont dim when i try and crank it.....i checked all of the fuses under the dash and they all seem to b fine.......what could b wrong....is there somewhere else where it could have grounded out and blown something else like a relay, circuit breaker??......what could cause all these things not to work at the same time???

please help cuz last time somone's car broke down on that road, someone went up to it that night and jacked the system and stuff outta it and smashed all of the windows.....i REALLY dont want that to happen to my car!!

The big junction is at the starter. Many high current wires tie into that point. The common problem is that the nut comes loose and many voltages to the car dissapear. If that is not the solution get a service manual and follow the feed lines to thier various points.

Have you checked for power after the fusable links on the starter? Some sort of mystery short could have blown one or all of them...

where are the fusable links?.......my dad did say that when he was working on it he fixed a wire( didnt know the color but knew that it was the bigger of the 2 that came out of the tube).......so do u think that maybe that wire came undone and those fusable links could have blown or maybe screwed up my computer or something else......???

The fusible (I need to learn how to spell correctly one of these days ) would be within 6-12" away from the main lug of the starter inline on the 3 wires from the starter solenoid (pretty sure that one's spelled right). They are black plastic cylinders about an inch in length, and maybe about ½" in diameter.

Have you tested to see if there is +12v at the main lug of the starter yet too ? Maybe there is a break somewhere in the battery cable (time has a way of wearing down wires).
