I have a 1991 rs tbi. I just did the cluster swap to a 145mph speedo and the speedo doesnt work. Also the trip and odometer doesnt work either. All the other guages work fine and the 110 speedo woked before. what could be the problem.

Maybe a connection to the speedo got messed up during the install or, maybe it's just a bad speedo. (knock on wood) I haven't had any elec speedo probles with my 'bird yet so I'm not giving the most sagely advice but, if it were my problem, that's where I'd start.

 

If the speedo is bad then is there anything that i can do to fix it, or am i S.O.L.

 

There might be a difference in the signals of the different speedo.
I would try a vss from the speedo with the 145 to see if that might work.

The problem has been solved. Thats the good news. The bad news is i had to pay $170 to get it fixed. and when i went to pick it up from the dealer they didnt even tell me what was wrong with it. I just handed them a check and they handed me the speedo.

 

The signals used for the 145 & lower speedos are the same - 4000 pulses per mile.
