ignition wires
ignition wires
hi
if you were to short out an ignition wire with the engine running it would cause a rich condition and the computer would lean it out lower blms value correct or not?
If correct then bad wires should cause a rich condition right?
thanks

What, What, What!
Are you talking about a plug wire?

If you short a wire you will get an obvious miss and excessive oxygen in the exhaust which would probably lean the F/A mixture. If your question is would bad wires cause an overall rich running engine the answer is no. If the car is running well with no missing or erratic operation I would look elsewhere. A sluggish O2 sensor might be the culprit or some emission related problem. Make sure engine temp is coming up to proper area as this will cause the ECM to run a slightly richer mix. With modern wires and the much higher spark voltages from elec. ignition unless the wires are burnt or falling apart they should be your least suspect.
