tbi harness altered to tpi harness
tbi harness altered to tpi harness
i have a 1991 camaro and am going to install a 1986 corvette tpi .i have the vette harness which is obviousley not going to fit !
problem in aus is i cannot send tbi harness away to get altered or go to a junk yard and get donor harness
what needs to be added to the tbi harness to make it work with the tpi ??
best i can figure is
1 injectors have to be changed
2 maf wiring has to be added
3 mat sensor has to be added
4 maf burnoff relay has to be added
has anyone ever done this or am i better off trying to find a camaro harness from a junk yard in usa and getting it shipped to aus
thanks
steve

I think you'll be opening the door to too many potential problems. A lot has to change. Even things like the fuel pump relay could be different, and you'll have the cold start injector among others. I would say that your best bet is to go to the classifieds on this site and start emailing the people parting out their cars. 86, 87 and possibly 88 (vats?) should work.

If your '91 has TPI, you could use the same harness for the vette TPI setup. If your '91 does not have TPI, then you will need to use the entire vette harness & computer & hook all of the battery power, ignition power, ground, gauge, tach, etc. wires from the vette harness to the appropriate places. Only the wires in the existing drivers side harness will be used - the entire passenger side (computer) harness will be replaced. There is also a small harness that goes from the computer to the body harness, under the passenger side dash, and that will have to be connected to the vette harness, as well. You will need a Helm shop manual with the complete electrical diagrams for the vette & your car to make it work. It is a sizable project.
