HELP!!!! TA won't die.
HELP!!!! TA won't die.
I have a 85 TA, I recently changed from 305tpi to a 350 carburated. I took a old model hei distributor and hooked the power wire up to it, and now when I cut the key off, I still get fire to my distributor. When the fuel that is in the carburator runs out the car will die. Where is the extra fire coming from? Is there a fuse I need to remove, or a wire I need to cut? In a bad bind, please HELP!!!

Try disconnecting the plug at the alternator & see if that makes the motor stop running. If that is the case, you have the field power to the alternator conneted to the same power feed circuit as the ignition system (the ignition switch "power in run & start" output & not the "power in run only" output). The ignition system power comes from the "power in run & start" output & must be disconnected from the alt field when the ignition switch is turned off, or the ignition system will continue to receive power from the alternator, after the ignition switch is turned off.
Does your alternator have a large lug and two wires (A & B), or a large lug and 3 wires (S, F, & L)?

I have one lug with 2 wires coming off of it, one going to the battery and the other going to a plug on top with 2 wires. The plug has this wire and the other wire runs behind the motor somewhere. I took the wire off from the alternator it didn't help. I also disconnected the plug from the alternator and it didn't help. I did this at seperate times.
