Power Locks

The powerlock on the passenger side of my car does not work, it's been like this since '90 or so. Ive thought that i might be the relay but I don't know where it would be. Could it be one of the two behind the driver's side kick panel? I have power windows & mirrors too so could these relays be for them?

TIA, Don

I would try the thermal limiter fuses in the fuse box. It is the silver looking retangeluar boxes next to the fuses. You should have two of these. Try rotating them in each others slots and see if it helps.

There is only one "thermal breaker" for the lock circuit - it also powers the electric seat, if so equipped, so if one lock solenoid is working, the breaker should be OK. The relays are in the location you described. Operate the locks & listen for the clicking to help locate them exactly. A common electric lock problem is lack of lubrication. If the lock lever is difficult to move manually, then pull the door panel & spray some lube on the mechanism near the door latch that the lock actuator rod connects to.

mine didnt work so i took apart the door pannel and i found some wires that insulation had rubbed off so they were grounding out on the door pannel. taped them up and they work....well.....they dont because the actuators suck....it takes like 4 puses to get them to lock/unlock

Because the lock mechanics are dirty.
