Ok, I know I can use it, with a regulator. I have already bought a mallory regulator with
return. Basically what I am asking is...will I need to wire up the pump on a switch or will it still function? I have removed the TPI wiring harness and replaced it with a carb wiring harness. What else do I need to know?

It really depends on the year of the carb harness & the year of your TPI harness. '87 (at least) carb setups have a fuel pump in the tank & the relay to control it.
Connect the fuel pump relay coil to either the starter solenoid or the cold start injector output from the starter switch. There should have been an oil pressure switch near the oil filter on the TPI motor. This switch parallels the fuel pump relay contacts & powers the fuel pump when the oil pressure is > 4 psig.
