More Problems!!
Hey guys I have another problem. My never ending project car doesn't want to start(still)Just got my correct stock prom for it--no check engine light comes on so I can't run any codes. The car is an 86 T/A that was(is)being converted to 89 specs--engine, trans, wiring harness(engine, body, dash)
What gives?? Car still hasn't started--gets fuel pressure(gas squirts from rail)has spark, and the fuel pump kicks on(obviously)
Car has the vats in it--guy rigged the pump to come on w/the key--just for the hell of it I cut the hot wire(rigged) to see what would happen--pump didn't kick on! When I'm cranking I don't smell any gas!! I don't have one of those noid lights to see if the injectors are firing
(are they expensive?)
Where do I go from here? I would love to get this thing to run!! Any ideas??

If the ECM is not getting the "OK" signal from the VATS module, the injectors will not fire. There is a "security" light that the VATS module drives. The light should come on for about 2 seconds & then go off when the ign is first turned on. If it comes on & stays on, then the VATS module is not sensing the correct resistance from the resistor in the key.

Tim the security light definitely comes on--but it doesn't stay on. That's my feeling also that the injectors aren't firing.
Definitely have to look into that noid light.
What's your opinion on the check engine light? It still doesn't come on at all. Car cranks ok and pump does cycle on--it's hot wired still--What gives???
Anybody have any ideas??

The check engine light should come on & stay in with the ign on & the engine not running.

Yes I know. It refuses to come on at all. I've replaced the bulb w/a known good bulb but still nothing! Just for the heck of it I have the cluster from the 86--I'll try that one to see what happens.
Thanks for the ideas Tim!
Anybody else? I'm ripping my hair out w/this car!!
