pull down hatch
How do you tell if you have a pull down hatch. The guy how installed my alarm said the silenoid was bad and something else also.
It doesn't have a release button but I would LOVE to install one. Please tell me how to tell if it is pull down and how to install one and a button if not. Oh yeah what is the thing to the left of the latch?
It is spring activated and has two metal things on the left and right side?
By the way I drive a 86 Sports Coupe

'87 was the first year of the pull down hatch motor. Before that, a hatch release solenoid was used to "pop" open the hatch remotely. You should be able to pick up a hatch release mechanism, switch, & relay from a local junk yard. You will have to route a wire from the console to the rear hatch area. The power wires with plugins for the hatch release circuit should be in your console harness already.
