Interior lights not working!?!

Yesterday i was driving along minding my own business, when i parked at my house and opened my door my light didnt go on. I thought this was strange so i tried to manually turn it on. Well that didnt work so i tried using the reading lamps on the bottom of the rearview mirror and those didnt work either. Then i couldnt lock my doors with the power locks. The dash , and radio lights work just fine but i have no interior lights or locks. Are these all controlled by one fuse? How can i fix this? How might that be caused if it isnt just a burnt out fuse?

Same thing happenned to me. I had my Dad in the car and he messed with the electric door locks on the passenger side. All was well though, as I pulled away from his place. I honked the horn, and was off on my way. But on the road, I noticed the horn went out as well as door locks. The 20 amp fuse for them was blown, so I replaced the fuse, but it IMMEDIATELY popped and blewed out, zap. Tried another one, same thing. I am now afraid I have a short somewhere and I do not relish the idea of ripping everything apart trying to find it !!!

I'll be watching this thread for info !!

good luck to us both.

I had the exact same problem on 2 of my Camaros. The dam cigarette lighter wasn't popping out so it was just getting hotter and hotter until the fuse would blow. (It's on the same fuse as the locks, lights and horn.) Try pulling out the lighter (throw the dam thing away and get a new one) and replacing the fuse. It took me a whole case of fuses to figure this one out.

The 20 ampere accy fuse operates the interior lights & the electric lock relay coils. (The electric lock solenoids are powered by the 20 ampere power accy circuit breaker.)

Yes, it's definitely that fuse...20 amps....i think it says CTSY (for courtesy lights). If the fuse keeps blowing, definitely check the cigarette lighter first. Sometimes the lighter itself is bad, or perhaps a dime or a piece of cigarette-pack foil has fallen into the lighter socket.

Yeah, sort of. It was on my list of things to check, but actually I didn't think it would be the lighter, you're right.
