Rear Defrost - Broken After Tint

I got my rear window tinted last year before winter set in. Since that day my rear defrost hasn't worked correctly. To begin with, when the shop installed the tint the 'thread'-like wire leading to the 3rd brake light up top fell 1/2 off. That didn't hinder the light but was annoying. The defroster

1 - turns on at the switch, lights up, etc.
2 - there's power feeding into the defroster lines at the driver's side and no voltage showing at the other side
3 - the defrost stays on indefinitely, not switching off after any length of time. I could be wrong on this point because i know the first time it stays on for quite a while anyway
4 - this leads me to believe that the switch, relay, and wiring TO the defrost are ok, leaving only the defrost 'lines' ????? None of them seem broken, though

Any help or comments would be appreciated. It's really a shame because the shop i took it to did the tint in ONE PIECE. I understand that's a rarity.thanks in advance to anyone who can help

Since you have power at the drivers side grid distribution point with the switch activated, check for continuity to ground at the passenger side grid distribution point on the window. It should be connected to chassis ground.
