Bright light activator swithch adjustment ....HELP!!!!

I originally posted a request for info on my bright light switch a while ago. I decided to takle it today with the info provided to me. Someone suggested that I drop the steering coloumn in order to get at the switch. I did that but I cannot slide the surrounding piece of plastic forward in order to get at the switch. I have a 1990 camaro and I don't know if it is any different from previous years. Has anyone done this to their 90 before? Any sugestions?

It is not necessary to drop the steering column to adjust the hi/lo beam switch, however, it would be a bit easier to access. The large trim panel (near where your knees would be) has 5 torx screws that must be removed in order to drop it.

Tim, I got that panel off without any problems. The piece I am referring to is on the steering column. Right after the stering wheel there is the main plastic cover that houses the ingnition cylinder, hazards and of course the multi fuction stalk. The piece I am referring to is in front of this piece. I dropped the steering coloumn without problems but it appears to me that the high beam switch is right under this cover that I'm speaking of.It is one piece so it it was slid on either from the back or from the front of the steering column. Do I have to pull the seering wheel to remove this piece or can it be slid forward?

The hi/low beam switch is low on the steering column, near the ignition switch - near the fire wall. There is a steel rod that connects the multipurpose lever to the switch, similar to the ign switch mechanism. Unless the rod is no longer connected to the multifunction lever, you should not have to remove the housing on the column. The switch is adjusted by loosening the bolts that secure the switch & sliding it fore & aft.
