Voltage problems?

I have been having trouble with my car stereo the past few days. It was happening that the unit would flash on and off, but not reset. The clock and settings remained, but the power spontateously flashed on and off. This is a new Blaupunkt unit that I just put in 2 weeks ago. It was working fine until I hit the dragstrip last friday. Well after analyzing the problem it seems that my alternator is not charging well. My voltage seems to stay a hair above 12, all the time, and when my turn signal is on the needle of the guage jumps up and down in conjunction with the lights. After further investigation, the radio will shut off when i put my foot on the brake, turn on the lights, put the turn signals on, etc. Do you think that my alternator is my problem? Also...I was looking at the 140 amp Summit alternator (I want the powermaster, but they are back ordered for a while) What is needed to do a 1-wire conversion? Is it necessary to buy the kit when I can't use a majority of the parts, or can it be easly done without it? Thanks.
