Headlight actuator problem. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi there,

I'm new to this board. I have recently bought a '89 Firebird wich only has one problem. The headlights won't go down automatically. I have seen that there are 3 wires comming out of the actuators and there are only 2 wired. Does anyone have a suggestion how I can solve this??
Thanx,

Danny

Sounds to me like someone replaced the motors with older ones. There were two types of motors, 82-86 I think were 3-wire motors, and 87-?(92) were two-wire. They were two different designs, and I think a previous owner on your car improperly relpaced worn motors with some from the wrong year. If this turns out to be the case, you'll most likely need new motors for the correct year. Get a second opinion, though. Anyone else? Hope this helps,
John

P.S. If you will be replacing the motors I may be interested in buying the ones you have to use in my 84 bird, or at least so I can use their parts. Let me know.
