87 2.8 v6.. its winter, fan runs non stop.. overcooling..
anyway its running non stop because i have the green (i think) wire grounded at the relay.. last summer my fan died, and grounding that wire was my last step in troubleshooting before i got lost with the ssm instructions.. i suspect the temp sender, but which is it on this motor? there are a few of them..
thanks

It should be the sensor on the head I believe it connects to your fan relay. The one on the intake manifold goes to the gauges. Anyways if your not sure just follow the wires and see if it goes to a relay and that will be the right sensor. Someone conferm this?

The coolant fan switch on an '87 V6 VIN S is located on the rear passenger side cylinder head. The coolant fan relay is controlled by the ECM or the fan switch (they are connected in parallel with one another). The fan switch should turn the fan on above 243 F. I'm not sure what temperature the ECM turns the fan on at, but I'd guess that it's around 220 F. The wire color going to the fan switch & ECM from the fan relay is dark green / white.
