I've got a WIERD tach problem!

It says I idle at like 2750 and cruise at 5 or 6k.....

It is obviously working and moves just fine, but the reading is really 2 or 3x's what it should be. Is there a simple fix to this?

How do I fix it?

I'm working on a fix for this, I have the same problem as do a few others, though not as drastic as yours is. I'll post back with the results when the parts I ordered get here and get put in the tach.

I had the same problem with my tach when I first got the car...I replaced it with a guage pack I ripped off an 89, I think it was an RS...hehe I wanted the speedo...but snagged the tach too. Mine still reads off by probably like 10-15% so I would love to hear another solution too.

I had the same problem after I replaced my coil. I but the new one in the same way the old one came out, but it was running double. I then went to a more reputable parts dealer, and got a new coil from them, and after talking to them, I went through and double checked my ground for the coil. This was the problem. Neither the original or the first one that I bought had the proper grounding strap, I put the grounding strap (more like a metal strip) onto the coil, and it went to exactly what it was supposed to be.
