what are these relays?

after replacing my ignition module and STILL getting a code 42, im curious if i hooked something into the wrong relay last year, when i was cleaning.

the picture shows the location of the relays. theyr by the brake system on the drivers side top of the firewall. when i pulled the engine last year, i descided to get a lot of leavs and seeds out of the crevices of the engine bay, and for some reason i descided NOT to mark these relays and wiring harneses.

here are the weays they are hooked up now from left to right.

1st block)
wire 1-thick orange
2-thin orange
3-green w/white stripe
4-purple w/white stripe
5-brown w/white stripe

2nd block-
1-thick orange
2-light blue
3-brown w/white stripe
4-black w/white stripe
5-red

3rd block-
1-thick orange
2-thick orange
3-black?
4-blue

so basically im trying to ask this...

1) what do these relays do?
2) do you know if i hooked them up correctly
3)what systems do they belong to?

ive looked in my hayes manual, and they dont even touch on these.... they might have in the wiring diagrams, but i have no clue how to read those.

im curious if i hooked them up wrong, because, like i said, im still getting this code 42 after replacing the module, and unhooking those 2 wire connections near the battery.

thanx

THat is usually where the coolant fan and electric fuel pump relays are. If you have the heavy duty coolant fan, there will be two fan relays. From left to right it goes: coolant fan relay #1, coolant fan relay #2, Electric Fuel Pump Relay.
I have the electrical diagram of that car if u really want, I could look it up for ya.

is it color coded?

damn, i was hoping it had to do with the ignition.... that light makes me paranoid to drive the car.

still, if you could send it, it would be helpfull, so i could make sure everything is hooked up right.

anyone know how to start testing the connections?
i dont know anything about testing for bad connections, but aparently, its time for me to learn.

thanx

Cooling fan relay is usually on the radiator support to the best of my knowledge (which can be shakey at times )

On my 87 MAF TPI, the MAF power relay, burnoff relay , ECS & fuel pump relay will be there in the circled part in your pic.
