I've wired the box as per instuction for a coil in cap HEI.I didnot use the brown,blue or orange wires.The car misses and backfires when the box is wired in and when I check the timing it's 60 degrees advanced. Disconnect the box and car runs normal. Does this mean bad box or am I missing something?

Try retarding the timing to its specd location.
