ignition problem

I am experencing a strange problem with my ignition, while driving the car began surging so I turned to go home on the way I couldn't hold a steady speed and it would have a hard time idoling. When I got home I figured tune up time so I put new plugs, wires, cap and rotor but still had the same problem. I notice that the power LED on my Crane Hi6s intermitently flashes off when this problem is occuring leading me to believe I am intermitenly losing power in my ignition. What could cause this and what should I look for?

Id check the power and ground to the HI6, if thats not it, try disconnecting it and see if it goes away.

I disconected the Hi6s and the problem is still there. Checked the power and ground wires everything seems ok.This is confusing the hell out of me.

Found out through trial and error that problem was the new crane coil sent with the Hi6s it lasted about two days and crapped out. Time to return it for a replacement.
