possible charging problem.

when at idle in gear stopped with the engine at running temp, the lights are dim and th eblower for the defroster/heater/ac, runs slow as soon as you step on the gas, it comes rigt up basically if it is at 500rpm in gear its low, but say 800rpm in gear its fine. what could it be, i went through a few altinators not to long ago and found out it was my battery. i replaced th ealt and battery and seem to have no problems. now, could it be a bad connection at the wire that comes from the altinator to the starter? if i was to disconnect that wire, and run a wire from alt to pos on battery would it be a less resistant setup?

thanks

Bingo, you got it. Use a very high quality (many strands) copper wire of about 8 guage.

Getting a smaller pulley on your alternator will also fix the problem.

btw, I always run externally regulated alternators and swear by them.
