Spark Plug ?
Spark Plug ?
Simple questions for most of you on the board. Will 8.5mm wires and Splitfire 3 sparkplugs work on a stock 305 TBI, will the spark be to hot? Any other recommendations if they will not work. What are good spark plugs, in general I go by "you get what you pay for", atleast in most occasions. Thanks in advance.

the wires should have nothing to do with the heat range on your plugs so id say get what ever wires you like.
however if you want to get platinum plugs get autolites or champions or something.
not to say that splitfires arent good -- i have been using them for 4 years,
but i feel if you want to get a plug based on how long it will last (which is why they put platinum on the plugs in the first place) you are better off going with an established design with platinum tips. these seem to last longer an have less problems with fouling.
I found that sometimes one of the tips on the Y part of the splitfires or on the Bocsh +4 ones gets some sh*t on it and causes miss and then you have to pull the plugs and clean them.
this is partly due to the short trip driving I do but it just goes to show that these new designs arent better in all senses.

The stuff you mention will work with your engine no problem, however
I will say it.. Splitfire plugs are junk. The company doesn't even make their own sparkplugs. They buy very cheap generic plugs and tack on their ground strap which is equally worthless. The internal resistors inside the plugs are as cheap as they come and have an ohm resistance variance of over 50%. That is terrible.
The best plugs I've ever tested are Autolite #51 which probably will not fit in your heads. My next choice for stock taiper-seat heads would be Motocraft 32C

Any other personal experiences or input on other spark plugs. I plan on giving my car a tune-up this weekend. Also which wires seem to be good high voltage wires, that fit correctly and what should I expect to pay for them. Thanks again
After tons of testing different wires for both ohms and performance, I simply use the red silicone (spiral wound) sets from AutoZone. they cost around $25 and are lifetime. Nothing I have ever tested showed any improvement over those, and yes I run them on my cars. I have yet to test Nology wires but have had mixed reports on them. I think David Vizard has dyno tested them on his own engine dyno and gave them the highest rating. However I have no idea what ignition setup he was using with the wires. He didn't give all the details.
