ok im stumped! i have an '87 Formula with a WEIRD problem! it only happens on occasion (my fiancee equates it to the car's "mood"!) but when i hit bumps sometimes, even with both front seatbelts buckled the fasten seat belts dummy light will come on. some days you cant make the car do it, other days you cant make it stop. it will come on and stay on for its normal timed interval each time it shines. has anyone had this problem before? if so, could ya point me in the right direction to solve it? thanks

there are wiring connections going to both ends of each seat belt that tell the light to come on or not, check the connections under the seats and on the retractors down by the door bottoms and make sure they are tight and clean.

switch to sense if the seat belt is buckled is only on the drivers seat, is no such switch for the passengers seat.

seat belt light and buzzer are only supposed to come on immediately after the ignition key is turned from the off position to the run position. after the car has been running for a couple minutes, the buzzer should not sound even if the drivers seat belt is unbuckled.

appears as though the module is loose in it's socket or there is a fault in the wiring. could also be a defective buzzer assembly but they rarely go bad.

buzzer is located on the convenience cluster to the right of the steering column in between the column and the radio pod. to access remove the underdash trim panel and lower the convience cluster. insert your keys into ignition with the drivers door open and the part in question should start dinging at you.
