Factory ram air - on demand
I just finished changing my factory ram air so that *I* can control it. Changed solenoid to door lock motor and used relays and momentary contact switch. Pictures and details on my website.

I think you mean cowl induction (air from the base of the windshield). The 82-84 TAs had cowl induction.

With the pressure back there at the cowl, the result would be at least similar to a ram air setup, minus all the feathers of birds being sucked into it. ;-)
I'm trying to locate a setup myself, have one right now at ebay, but it lacks thefilterhousing and lid. Dont know how easy it would be to get ahold of that separatly, so maybe I'll wait until I can get a complete one. You dont have a spare do you?
Nice car by the way. Read your story about it and the white wheels where the right ting to do.

Do you have a spare lid, or a spare complete setup? I would be interested in both, but preferably a complete one, since shipping everything in more than one package would make it twice or triple the shipping amount.

ops
whats the difference between the door lock solonoid and the factory solonoid, after all the factory setup used a zero vacuum switch to activate the flapper door, so isn't that on demand, and why not just wire the door open, this way its always drawing fresh air

I think I read somewhere that the solenoid can get very hot and, perhaps burn out if you wire it open ar all times. That's why some used a door lock instead. But I think that the vaccum switch was in addition, guess it could be uased with a door lock to.
But didn't you wire it like this, with door lock?
Anyways, did you have a lid or a complete setup?

the unit has every possible part to the system, hood box, electrical wiring, vaccum switch, complete air filter housing with lid, snorkel pickups, the air filter housing is a single inlet unit, it was on a 84 T/A H.O

And working solenoid?
Sounds nice...how much did you want for it?
Found out after trying a new wheel today, that I didn't only break my wheel in pieces, but managed to bend the axle or something, the wheel goes kinda in and out, sideways, when I drive.
So now I probably need a new rear axle or something...can be very hard to get. Or is it possible to just swap the inside of the axle? I dont even know the ballpark of the prices on rear axles. It really suck. Shelled out olmost all i had on that daily driver, and now I cant even drive it. Makes me really depressed.
And I was supposed to use the car on holiday...

75, for it all plus shipping, yes the solonoid works on it, ans nothing is busted up on it ..... does your formula have the scoop block off plate on it ?

Why did the block of plate matter? Should we continue this in private instead?
I placed a bid on the cowl induction setup on ebay before you told me that you had one. I just had to wait and see if I won the bidding or not, because then I would have two of them. THe one on ebay werent all complete though, missed the aircleaner lid, but I found that on ebay too. It, where a bit cheaper though. But I recconed that it would be best to get all in one package. I didn't place more bids, and I was bidded over, so I want the one you got. But we could continue this by mail.

I read through your site once again.
Good reading. Have you gotten the car in working order again after the carb swap? I also have cars for hobby, but have a little different approach to it. I try to keep the cars (or motorcycles) as dayly drivers through summer and fall, and put most of my money there. The backup car is usually a really crappy car, like a rusted and busted out $400 -87 mazda 2.0 like the one I got now. I paid about $15 000 for the formula though.. That way I'm usually more motivated to get things done with the vehicle in question.
But my car was quite the opposite of yours, only 40 000 miles, almost new looking, and well cared for. Not the usual signs of age, although some could be better.
My little tip for your engine compartment; try to buff up the windshield washer container, and the overflow tank with anything that works for you. It makes the compartment looks soo much fresher, when you get rid of that yellowish color they get after a while. I have heard that you may use fine steel whool on those, and the finish that's left, looks the same as it's supposed to be. Havent tried that though, so you probably should try on a not very visible spot at first.
