rear hatch release install
I was just wondering if anyone had installed a rear hatch release from scratch. My 85 Z28 doesn't have it and I am sick of having to shut the car off to open the back hatch. If anyone has a suggestion for doing this please email me wildcat856@hotmail.com

You don't have to put in the motorized pull-down hatch, you can just put in the remote release like was offered on the pre-85 cars.
thats exactly what I want to do. Any ideas where I can find out how to do this?

Probably the best way is to find a donor car in the junkyard and take the latch mechanism out of it, making note of how it goes together so that you can put it in your car the same way. Also make sure you get the trim pieces covering everything are either the same between the two cars or else you'll have to get those too.

I have the full pull down hatch mechanism from a donor car, and all i want to swap into my 82 T/A with the regular lock release is the hatch release solenoid. I can live with shutting the hatch myself. no biggie.
Anybody have info on how only the release solenoid would be wired in or mounted to the lock cylinder?
