Bright lights won't stay on

Low beams work just fine, but when I turn on the brights, they (all headlights) will flicker, and then go out. I believe the problem might be in the stalk on the steering column. It won't move when the wheel is in certain positions. Anyone had/having this problem? It's driving me nuts because my eyes are getting worse with age, and I need the brights!

The high / low beam switch is mounted near the ign switch, on the top side of the lower steering column. There is a rod that goes down the column from the turn signal lever to activate the switch. The switch position is adjustable, if I remember correctly. Try to remove the switch & operate it manually & if it works OK, look at the linkage to the turn signal switch.

Yep its adjustable.....i had to adjust mine after taking it to the dealer and them telling me i needed a whole new switch which would cost me $100 just to look at it...$100 for the switch...and who knows how much for labor.....i was like.......hahahaha.......no.....went...adjusted it....and it worked fine (they said it wasnt adjustable...and it was broken) But its a REAL bit*h to get your tools in there and losen the screws to beable to adjust the rod....but yeah check and make sure the switch and lights are working but activating the switch with your hand.......if they do...adjust the rod length.

Wow and I thought New York was expensive, I just brought a new high beam switch for $24.03 part #26035242 CPOBK from a GM dealer, and yes it is hard to get reach but I found that it's easier if you just drop down the whole steering column, it may sound hard to do but it's easier to get to, all it takes is 3 nuts to loosen.
