Prob with my engine harness! someone stole the damn thing.

I wrote this in the tech department and a guy is offering to give me his engine harness for free, how about that. Anyway i cant resist that offer but i have a prob. The engine harness is from an 86' T/A (trans am) TPI and was wondering if its compatable with my 88' 305 TPI. i know this probably has nothing to do with it but the 86's didnt come with roller cam as mines does wont it affect the computer so please tell me if the 86' harness is compatable with my 88' computer and 89 mass air flow sensor.

The '86 and '88 TPI systems are both mass air flow sensor (MAS) type systems, but there may be differences in the MAS power & burnoff relay connections - I am not sure - you would need to look at the wiring diagrams in the shop manuals to be certain. In '88 GM went to the single serpentine accessory bracket system & the alternator and A/C compressor changed sides, but that should not effect the ECM harness routing. The T/A harness will be different from a Camaro harness in that the vapor cannister is on the passenger side (driver side for a Camaro), and the battery is on the driver's side (passenger side for a Camaro), so you will have to reroute the power lines from the battery to the fan, MAS, and fuel pump relays, and reroute the canister purge wires to the opposite side, if you use a FB or T/A harness in a Camaro, or vice verca.
