Big Problems!!!
Big Problems!!!
Ok guys, here we go. My car stalled a few times the other night going to work and finally it quit, wouldn't start. So a couple guys helped me push it to my girlfriend's house. I don't hear the fuel pump come on anymore, I tried getting it to work with the ALDL and nothing. Tried putting 12 volts at the gray wire behind the back seat, and nothing. The fuel pump relay does not click either when I turn the key on, I only have 12 volts at the orange wire on the relay. Shouldn't I have 12 volts on the green/white wire too? My dad got the relay to click by putting 12 volts to one of the wires, but I dont know which one, so I know the relay isn't bad. My diagnosis is a bad fuel pump and a bad ECM. But I'm no professional, any help would be very appreciated as soon as possible, don't wanna keep my ride off the road too much during the summer, I want to enjoy it.

Putting +12v on the ALDL connector completely bypasses the relay so, regardless of the relay working (switching by ECM command) or not, if the pump doesn't work by way of the ALDL or direct power at the pump harness, it's a good chance the pump.. "it's dead Jim" (quoteth Dr. McCoy
). On another note, the relay only energizes for 2 seconds when the key is turned to the 'run' position. There should be +12v on the heavier gauge tan/white wire during this initial power on.
It takes alot more than you think to kill an ECM as I found out the $$ way. After zapping my ECM (static electricity) wiring about a dozen times (or better)over a winter of rewiring, it didn't phase the ECM. I thought I cooked the ECM, turned out, I mixed to wires up but.. that's another story I won't bore you with

..... Shouldn't there be 12 volts on the gray wire that's behind the seat with the key on. I checked it with a voltmeter and it read nothing. The fuel pump relay was clicking when we put 12 volts in the ALDL to energize the fuel pump, so is there more than one problem.

Yes there should be +12v back there but, did you check for +12v on the tan/white wire at the relay ? If you have it up front & not in the back, you could have a bad wire somewhere in between.
If it clicking & no voltage at the relay, I'd guess the contacts have lived their lifespan out.
This might help you in your chase or, not.

Well, I ended up taking the car to the garage and found out that my Accel 300+ performance ignition wasn't working so I wasn't getting any spark and the fuel pump was gone in it, so everything is fixed now, thanx for the help guys.
