How to wire up an alarm backup battery
How would I go about wiring up a backup battery? <a href="http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=140-460&DID=7">Example of what I want to use</a>
Do I just wire it up to the positive and negative lines with diodes and if that's all I do, what kind of diodes do I need?

Connect the back up battery + terminal to the security system power fuse, and ground the - terminal of the back up battery. Feed +12 volt battery power from the car to the security system & back up battery through a fuse and a diode. The current rating of the fuse and diode should be on the order of 10 amps, or so, to accomodate the in rush charging current to the back up battery.
