tpi swap
tpi swap
I have swapped a 305 tbi for a 305 tpi in a 1991 rs. The tpi harness is out of a five speed and my car is automatic. Where is the tan/blk wire that goes to the aldl connector? The other two wires are present for the tcc being the lt blue and purple. Also the a/c wiring is different in that the compressor only had one black wire whereas my pump has two connector sockets? what can I do?

well basicall it sounds like the harness you got is for an older f-body. The older models still came with the radial R6 compressor the clutch on an R6 only has one wire. The later years switched to the V4 compressor, two wire clutch with a pressure switch in the back. Options, well you could either get a year correct harness (yeah I know...last resort), If you still have you're old harness you could bastardize it try to use that portion of the old harness and integrate it into the new one, or you could just say f**k it and roll down the windows when it gets hot. As for you're other wires, the best advice I can offer you is first go and find a Howell service manual for TPI, next find out what year the harness ecu and so forth are from. When I did my swap I found the Howell book invaluable, I ordered it directly from Howell. Last but not least you said the donor harness is a five speed harness, the blue and purple wires, are you sure those are for the TCC, they could be the VSS wires
anyway good luck
