Check engine light
Check engine light
OK I'm still trying to figure out all of the electrical problems on my swap(still doesn't run)I can't get any kind of check engine light-nothing- all fuses are good and the ecm is getting power. I have a noid light(test light for injectors) to see if the injectors are pulsing on when it cranks--they don't. Anybody have any ideas? I'm lost!
It's an 86 T/A, had the 305 tpi in it-went w/a 350 tpi(and trans)from my 89 Formula--switched everything! All wiring(body, dash, etc) so basically it's an 89 w/an 86 title.
Any help appreciated.

Did you connect the 2 ground straps from the harness to the back of the cylinder heads?
How about the engine to chassis ground?
No ground = no connection/bad connection...

I didn't put the harness in myself but I do know the strap on the pass. head is a little loose(very little play). I've tried to tighten it but I can't get in there--any suggestions? I've even tried from under the car w/no luck. Where's the other strap located? Haven't seen it.
Thanks for the ideas! I've been wracking my brain.

Hey Tony, I did the same change with a 91 350 that had vat's,in to my 86, I used the 305 computer and wiering that was allready there,I had to change a location of the oil sending unit and changed the injectors but other than that the car runs good, now there is three grounding wires on the passenger side as somebody mentioned and two on the driver side,on the back side of the heads that need to be grounded to make the harness work, if the check engine light worked before it should work. hope this will help some.
I ripped out the complete under dash harness--it was a mess! Thanks I'll check out those grounds on the driver side head. On the pass side the ground on the head is a little loose--looks like they didn't use the right size nut, think that would have any negative effect? The car might as well be titled as an 89--everything is from it! Only thing that's from 86 is the chassis!
Also the glass fuse near the battery(inline fuse)was blown.
