I recently bought a 82 z28 camaro, when I first got it , it would start but die if you tried to let it idol, after replacing some things (spark plugs, distributor, and some other things (not sure what stepdad did it mostly) the car still will not do anything more than start then die if you try to let it idol. Anyone have any suggestions? Possibly be the computer? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

 

Heres a little more detail on what i ment.. I recently purchased a 82 z28 crossfire injection 305. Have replaced distrubtor, rotor button,wires,plugs,fuel filters, and IAC valvues, the car still will only start, and not idel. Have changed gas (this car sat 7 yrs prior to buying) can hear fuel pump running. Checked plug gapping, and they are ok. Any suggestions?

check for vacuum leaks and spark

 

This is just a shot in the dark but the catalitic conerter
could be plugged.
Does the car run when you pump the gas?

 

Hey just had same problem and did the same things plus changed alltje gaskets around the tbi's. My fuel pump kicked on. It only had 8 lbs of pressure though. These cars need 14. Changed fuel pump cranked right up, runs great now. Good luck
