V6 To V8 Wiring Help
V6 To V8 Wiring Help
I need some help with the wiring in my 89 camaro RS. Iit used to be a 2.8 v6, not any more i took care of that. The thing is I am wondering if the stock wiring will work with the distributor that i have , its a hei distriutor but its for a v8 is the current or waht ever the same between the v6 and v8??? or do i need to run different wires??? i dunno about this part of the installatioin process. talk to me about wiring up a car stereo and ill explain 40 different ways to wire them up but im lost when it comes to motors . Also, does anyone know what all ground wires ill need to hook back up??? theres a bunch of them from the v6 that i took out. Any info would be awesome.
Thanks
Thanks
My wires work good i just took the origonal ign. wire and spliced the HEI connector on to it. For the tach you dont have to change anything just hook up the origonal tach wire to the distributor where it says TACH, you will probobly need a connector for that too.
Do you remeber what the colors of the wires were that you hooked up to the distributor?? The one that ran to the coil or the distributor itself on the stock wiring????
I think its the one with 4 wires coming off of it isnt it??

The fat pink wire is the one that goes to the battery side of the distributor and i am not sure of the color of the tach wire. both wires go to the coil when i had a V6 and they are both in one plug. The plug only had those two wires in it.

ok, this is my v6 to v8 wiring question, rssman, i dont mean to butt in on your thread. The only things i have to hook up are the fuel pump relay, and the fan relay, i hacked the fuel pump relay out because I was going to use a mechanical pump, but then went back to the intake pump. I have a haynes manual, and the diagram on those leave a little bit to be desired. For the power for both relays, where do hook those to? this is my biggest question. thanks again.
