alternator ,volts low
alternator ,volts low
My alternator volts when I put on a/c,lights volts drop down to about 10 to 11. Now, My alternator went this past Dec. so, this one fairly new and the volts still read low even with this new one. I've had AC delco in the past and only lasted a yr. and still read low when I use my accessories and like I said the last two have been from autozone. I've had it check by autozone in the past and they said the volts were with range but I did notice that the amps were low about 70-75 and I think they should be about 80-90 if I'm not wrong. My alt. is a 105amp. I've replaced the neg. bat.and the pos. cable to the starter and also the starter was replaced anybody have this problem or know what it could be. thanks

IF NOT A SERPENTINE BELT, IS THE BELT TIGHT ENOUGH. IT MAY SEEM TIGHT, BUT IT CAN STILL BE SLIPPING AND YOU WILL LOSE CRANKING CAPACITY. THEY RUN THEM MIGHTY TIGHT NOW DAYS. FOR THE VOLTAGE DROPING, YOU LIVE IN TEXAS. DO YOU NOTICE THIS DROP WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT ?? THE NEWER ALTERNATORS ARE DESIGNED TO CUT OUTPUT WHEN THEY GET HOT. MINE DID SO I ASKED AT THE CHEVY GARAGE AND THEY PRINTED THE SERVICE BULLITIN OUT FOR ME TO READ. SO, IF THE BATTERY IS STAYING UP, AND THE DROP IN VOLTAGE IS CONSTANT WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE RUNNING WITHING THE CORRECT PARAMETERS.
