Fuel Gauge question and ideas
Fuel Gauge question and ideas
Ive had a bustd fuel gauge for 2 years and im finnaly ready to change it. Im pretty sure its just the sending unit. because the gauge lays down on the FULL side untill i get towards the end of the tank and then it starts to swing when i come to as top and such.
My question is, when i go to fix it, and replace the sending unit, should i replace fuel pump ?... i dont want to have to do this again incase some day the damn thing decides **** on me. another idea i had was to put in an Autometer fuel and maybe pressure gauges, but i dont really need it. BUt i thot the aftermarket gauge would be more reliable and more accurate and it will help to dress up the interior of the car a little.
Bad idea?

Great idea to replace your fuel pump. It can't hurt at all. Even aftermarket one would be great if you plan on doing mods in the future. For an aftermarket fuel level gauge...do whatever tickles your fancy...for me, the stock one works fine. You can go in and adjust the needle if it bugs you too much. (They're off a little from the factory) For fuel pressure, you're going to need an electronic guage if you want it to be in the interior of your vehicle. I have a digital intelletronix one in a guage pod on my a pillar. However, you can add that at any time just by plumbing in a sending unit under your hood. Good luck changing the sending unit!
