Would My Car Benefit From A High Output Aftermarket Coil?

85 305 TPI. Stock with typical bolt on & free mods. Since most seem to feel that MSD's are a waste without major mods, would a high output coil ( mines coil-in-cap style) make a noticeable difference in any way? Or is the stock Delco coil sufficient? I've got new Delco cap & rotor, TPIS wires & Bosck 4's. I'd like a smoother idle and more throttle response if possible. If so, what brand do any of you out there prefer? Thanks in advance!

Only a small and unnoticable gain could be attributed to a high output coil on a relatively stock motor. Any improvement you notice will actually be from replacing a weak coil with a new one.

I personally don't feel that MSDs are a "waste without major mods". If you plan on having a healthy motor later, then it's merely the difference between making your bed in the morning or making it right before you get in.

Still, don't drop a couple bills and expect a noticable improvement right off the bat. That's where the "waste" perception comes in.
