Just another dumb move!!

So this has got to be almost as dumb as when i forgot to latch down my t tops. ok, the fusable link between my alternater and the ground/block went out on me. So as i was fixing it one of my friends told me that the fuse link isnt needed and i should just run a 12 gauge wire instead. After about 10 minutes of arguing i just used the 12 gauge wire. Well *** i was re installing my battery i heard some clicking and smelt something burning. I look over and my alternater is smokin. Well i assumed that the little rubber piece was just too hot and removed it. I then re installed the battery and all of a sudden boom, a s*** load of smoke starts pouring outta my engine and i got one hell of a shock, i had to get my garden hose to put out a small but very smoky fire in my engine bay. When the smoke cleared i saw where the problem was. Of course that piece of 12 gauge wire was toasted to hell. Well now i need a new battery and alternater and i feel like a dumb a**. I just though some of you would find this funny since weve all done some stupid stuf with our cars at one point.

I'd send the bill to your friend too. Well, at least half of it anyways. His half for suggesting it, and your half for listening.
